Blogging is an asset and a liability for young people. It's an asset because blogging is a new form of communication technology that many young people are familiar with and can express themselves with. It's a liability because blogs are policed in some countries, and some bloggers promote violence on them.
But blogs can be used as a public forum for young people to voice their opinions. One incident at a college in China this month demonstrates how young bloggers find a voice by going against the mainstream.
What happened was it was the last day of class for an econ course, and the teacher was mad that many students didn't show up. Click here to read the full story, but the teacher ended up having a physical confrontation with a female student when she tried to leave the class early.
Students began posting blogs on their campus network supporting the student and condemning the teachers conduct. A smaller number of students supported the teacher.
The community started to respond more to the story and questions were raised about whether the teacher was out of line. Without this new public forum called blogging, this incidence might've gone unaccounted for.

Oh, good to know.
